This marvellous footballer was a key part of the team which lifted the Championship trophy in 1975. David also won two BBC Floodlit Trophy medals with the Saints. He came to prominence after scoring a crucial try for Leigh when they defeated Leeds in the 1971 Challenge Cup Final.
David was equally at home at full back or wearing the number six jersey. He scored a very creditable 60 tries for the Saints, many emanating from his classic support play. This haul included no fewer than 12 braces. David even scored a couple of tries on his debut, a sign of things to come. He even kicked five goals for the club.
David became an international for England and Great Britain whilst playing at Knowlsey Road. He played in the 1975 World Cup competition for England.
David continued his playing career at Widnes. Later he had a spell with Cronulla in 1977 and completed his playing days with the Fulham side.
