Further Info: Sold to Rochdale Hornets. Father of Barrie
Eric Ledger by Dave Dooley:
Eric Ledger had a brief but spectacular playing career at the Saints playing over 30 matches as a winger. He made his debut against Rochdale Hornets on the 13th. March 1954. In 35 matches for the Saints Eric scored 32 tries, kicked no goals for a total points aggregate of 96 points. This scoring rate was simply phenomenal! He was signed from the Saints Juniors, a team which operated in the local amateur league.
This lightening fast winger despite achieving a very high try strike rate failed to establish himself as a regular member of the team.
His final match for the Club was against Whitehaven on the 16th of April, 1956. Eric was subsequently sold to Rochdale Hornets for five hundred pounds. Eric was the father of 1980`s Saints` winger Barrie Ledger. Some proof that speed lies in the genes.
