Ray was a very expereinced stand off when he was signed from Warrington in 1957. He was a natural organiser and reliable goalkicker who played 20 matches for the Saints that season. In these games Ray contributed five tries and kicked 14 goals for the Saints.
When thousands of new fans turned up to witness the debut of Tom Van Vollenhoven in October 1957, it was Ray Price who stood out in the home demolition of Leeds.
