Biography

A native of Dewsbury, Great Britain second-rower Lee Gilmour has already starred for two of Saints biggest Super League rivals, Wigan and Bradford. .He was a virtual ever-present since joining Saints from Bradford at the end of 2003, making over on 160 appearances in his first six seasons. He scored the opening try of the 2004 Challenge Cup Final against Wigan Warriors at Cardiff and represented Great Britain in the 2005 and 2006 Gillette Tri-Nations tournaments. His versatility and attacking prowess laid on plenty of tries for his teammates. He was equally at home at either second row or in the centres.

Lee often finished tries with a beautifully controlled glide over the stripe. He notched up his fiftieth try for the club in the home match against Celtic Crusaders in June 2009. His time at the Saints was characterised by his tireless workrate, excellent pace over 40 metres and his positional adaptability. His record also demonstrates his durability as he regularly appeared in the red vee about 30 matches per season. Lee twice returned 12 tries for the club in the 2004 and 2007 seasons. This haul included braces of touchdowns against the likes of Wigan Warrington and Leeds during his career at Knowsley Road.

The 2009 season proved to be a roller coaster season for the Saints. The ride however, ultimately ended in disappointment as the Saints trophy cabinet was laid bare for the first time since the 2003 campaign. Some sparkling performances were punctuated with below par matches as the club shaped a new team for the future and youth was given its head.
