 HERITAGE NO : 261 Tom Ashall joined the Saints in 1916 and played centre for 12 matches in the War Emergency League. After World War One Tom proved to be a very versatile player by moving into the forwards later in his career, when competitive rugby returned. A coal miner by trade we have him living in Regent Street, Pemberton in 1911. Tom scored two tries for the Saints in matches against Broughton Rangers and Wakefield Trinity. His final game was at hooker in the 5-7 defeat at Salford on 10 April 1920. The front row that afternoon was Peter Molyneux, Tom Ashall and Alf Robinson. In 1939 he was resident in Main Street, Billinge and still operating as a Coal Miner. He died in June 1958 at the age of 68.
