Henry James `Harry` Atkinson was a loose forward who also played for Wigan during the War years. Indeed he played 116 matches for the Cherry and Whites between 1943-48, scoring 16 tries, which illustrates the quality of his play and his mobility. Hentry later joined barrow, where he made 112 appearances, scoring 10 tries, from 1948-53. His Wigan Heritage Number is 477 and he passed away in the town in March 1988, aged 64.

In 1939 Harry was a Dipper in a Cotton Factory and living in Longwood Avenue, Wigan. He died in Wigan in March 1988, aged 79. Special thanks to Curtis Johnstone for the image of Harry.
