Biography of Scott Barrow

HERITAGE NO : 1076
Scott Barrow by Alex Service

Scott was born in St.Helens and his first love was rugby league with the Blackbrook amateur club. He signed for the Saints at the end of May 1997 and made progress as a half-back who could also fill in at hooker. He made his debut in an injury hit Saints side against Halifax Blue Sox and overall made 9 full appearances for the First Team, with 14 from the bench. Scott made the bench for the 2000 Grand Final against Wigan, but was not called upon.

He was a popular player at Knowsley Road and a good friend of Paul Wellens. In fact, it was Scott who suggested that Paul should be looked at by the Knowsley Road hierarchy as a possible signing. The rest, of course, is history. As for Scott, he faced strong competition for a place in the First Team, with the likes of Sean Long and Keiron Cunningham around. He decided on a change of code and he has been in rugby union ever since, gaining a reputation as a utility player, operating at various times at fly half, full back and in the centres. Originally, he joined Worcester in 2001 in the National League Division One and has also played with Glasgow Warriors and Orrell. Scott has also been named in the Scotland A squad for the Churchill Cup in 2007-08. He joined Leeds Carnegie at the start of 2008-09 on a two year deal and has continued to impress in the 15 a side code.

A brainy footballer, with excellent handling skills, his success at top professional level is no surprise.
