Biography of Riki Cowan

HERITAGE NO : 1040
Areariki Arthur ‘Riki’ Cowan by SHS

Riki was an Auckland provincial representative, had played for the New Zealand Maoris and for the full New Zealand team [6 tests] before being brought to Knowsley Road by Mike McClennan in 1993, who had coached him at the Mount Albert Lions club.

Although vastly experienced, his games for the Saints’ first team were somewhat limited and he returned home at the end of the 1992-93 campaign. He had made his debut at Hull on 24th February 1993, when the Saints lost 16-21. He was in the front-row with Bernard Dwyer and fellow Kiwi George Mann. It was his only start in the red vee.
