Peter Douglas by Dave Dooley:
Originally formed a fine half-back partnership with Tommy Bishop at Barrow. When "Bish" went to St.Helens in 1965/66, the flaxen-haired Douglas rejoined him at Knowsley Road the following season. He possessed tremendous speed off the mark to open up opposing defences. He gained a Lancashire League medal (1966/67) and a Lancashire Cup Winners medal in 1967/68 before returning to Barrow halfway through that same season.

Peter made a sensational debut for the Saints in the Floodlit Trophy Preliminary second tie match against Salford on the 26th of September, 1966. He scored a couple of tries including an absolute sizzler utilising his exceptional side-step in a dazzling move from a set scrum. His 12 tries that season included another brace in the away league game at Workington in the week before Christmas. The half back partnership with Tommy Bishop helped win the Lancashire League but the season ended in disappointment for Peter and his team mates when Wakefield Trinity defeated Saints in the Championship Final replay.

In the first half of the following season Peter played 16 matches for the club including the 1967 Lancashire Cup Final Replay when Saints edged out Warrington by 13 points to 10. His four tries that season came as two braces, in successive weeks, against Salford and Wakefield Trinity. His last match for the club was against Warrington on the 2nd of December 1967. Soon afterwards he returned to Barrow.
