Biography of Patrick Melvin



HERITAGE NO : 85
Patrick Melvin was a hard forward who played 33 matches for the Saints between March 1900 and September 1901. He scored his only try for the club in the 8 points all draw at Wigan. Melvin also played in the Border Towns Cup Final in 1900 when Saints defeated Runcorn by 6 points to nil. He was brought over to the Saints from York where he returned after his days at Knowsley Road were concluded. The 1911 Census had him living in Dennis Street, York and working as a fitter in a flour mill. He died in York in 1919 at the age of 42.
