Biography of Ged Morris

HERITAGE NO : 882
Ged Morris played his only game for the first team in the away victory over Batley by 14 points to 7 on the 16th of April 1972. He played on the left wing in this match outside Alan Whittle. Gerald was signed from local amateurs Blackbrook ARLFC. On signing he was described in the club programme as weighing in at 11 and a half stones with the look of Bill Burgess. He then went on to play for Blackpool Borough along with Paddy Loughlin, Alan Bishop and Wilf Smith who was their coach. I suppose you could call him a dual registered player as he returned to Saints later in the season but could not break into the first team being behind Les Jones and Frank Wilson. Ged returned to Blackbrook when he was 29 and played for the club until the age of 36. Subsequently he played for St Helens RUFC at Moss Lane until the grand age of 57.

Thanks to Ged for augmenting his career biography and for the classic photographs from the period which we have placed in his gallery.
