Biography of Henry Tomlinson



HERITAGE NO : 251
Henry Tomlinson played his only game for the first team in the narrow away league loss to local rivals St Helens Recs by 24 points to 3 on the 18th January 1919. He played in the forwards either as prop or in the second row throughout his career. However the one official appearance belies his career at the Saints. In all Henry played 48 first team games, mostly during World War One when the matches were counted as friendlies. He notched a solitary try in the friendly match against Barrow in January 1919. In 1939, Henry owned a business in Ormskirk Street, St Helens. He died in his hometown in June 1949 at the age of 53.
