 HERITAGE NO : 658 Bennett was believed to be a Welsh trialist full back who played against Oldham on the 12th of April 1947. The St Helens Reporter stated that he had never seen a game of rugby league in his life. Little wonder that he was reported as being at sea during the match. The club decided not to offer him a contract. In his defence playing full back in your first ever rugby league match would leave one open to the elements.
