Biography of John Bocock



HERITAGE NO : 150
John Bocock was a lively half back or centre who played eight matches for the Saints from September to November 1906. He continued his rugby life with Leigh Shamrocks.

In 1921 John was living on Club Terrace, Fitzwilliam, Hemsworth, Wakefield, Yorkshire. He lived with his mother Martha at his brother’s house in Hemsworth. John worked as a Dataller at Monkton Colliery. John was a miner and he later settled in Wakefield, Yorkshire where his brother William had already relocated. In 1939 he was resident at 7 Club Terrace, Fitzwilliam, Wakefield. John died in Wakefield in June 1962 aged 78.
