Biography of Jesse Bradburn

Jesse was a tough forward who played five matches for the Saints in 1907. He played against the very first touring team from New Zealand in October 1907. Jesse originated from Malmesbury in Wiltshire. His father was in the army and consequently moved around the country before settling in Salford.

In 1911 Jesse was listed as a Police Constable living in Claremont Street, Salford. He was living with his family there ten years later but he had abandoned the Police Force to take up manual work Born in London and spending his childhood in Wiltshire, in 1921 Jesse was living in Claremont Street, Salford. He lived with his wife Mary Jane, son Jesse and daughter Jennie. Jesse worked as a Transport Worker on the Manchester Ship Canal. The 1939 Census records Jesse resident as a patient in Hope Hospital suffering with his mental health. He died in Heywood in 1945 aged 64.
