Biography of Tommy Bradshaw * |
---|
HERITAGE NO : 590 Tommy was a legend in the cherry and white hoops of his native Wigan, a scrum half truly par excellence. He has a website dedicated to his exploits for Wigan and later Leigh. It came as a bit of a surprise to his family to learn that he had guested for St Helens during the dark days of war. In fact, in his only match for the Saints, he was partnered at stand off by another Wigan star, Martin Ryan, who of course, was normally a full-back. Saints lost against Wakefield Trinity and Tommy's son tells us that he originates from the Newtown area of Wigan. He worked as a basket maker and also had a pub, like a number of rugby league personalities, at Atherton called the Queens Arms. Tommy later worked at HJ Heinz and passed away on 20th December 1981, aged 61. |
