Biography of John Fletcher



HERITAGE NO : 252
John Fletcher played his only official game for the first team in the home league defeat to local rivals St Helens Recs by 24 points to 3. He played prop forward in this match. Fletcher however played for the Saints for 36 matches during World War One scoring four tries. Indeed he played for the first time in 1916 in an away defeat at Hull. John worked as a Coal Hewer and in 1911 he was a resident in Hall Lane, Farnworth. He died In March 1920 at the premature age of just 30. His death was registered in Bolton.
