HERITAGE NO : 259 Peter Furlong played his only official game for the first team in the league home defeat to Leigh by 10 points to nil on March 1st, 1919. He played as prop forward in this match. He was signed from local club Sherdley Athletic at the end of World War One. At that time, there was a desire by young families to emigrate and many made their way across the Atlantic Ocean to North America. Just one year after his only match for the club, Peter and his wife, Helen, emigrated to Kokomo, Indiana, USA where Peter was gainfully employed as a bricklayer. Peter was later a resident in Congress Street, Ottawa, Illinois where he worked for the National Fireproofing Company.
