The son of famous Australian international Kevin Goldspink, Brett joined the Saints for the 1998 campaign, from the financially strapped Oldham Bears, together with Paul Atcheson and Paul Davidson. He was a big, strong and forceful front-rower, who played just the one season at Knowsley Road before joining Wigan. It was probably one of the most disappointing times for the club in the new Super League era, as the side struggled with certain issues which had spilled over from the latter part of the previous campaign.

Brett began his career in Australia with South Sydney, before joining the newly-formed Western Reds in Perth. Mick Potter was also at the club at the same time. He also played for Halifax in England, part of a career which saw him play over 250 First Team matches for his respective clubs.

Father Kevin was a legend with Canterbury Bankstown, Eastern Suburbs and coached Hay Magpies to the Premiership in the Group 17 competition in New South Wales in 1982.

As for Brett, he moved back Down Under to live in the Perth area, where he became a member of a successful property and property development company.
