Biography of John Harrison

HERITAGE NO : 428
John William Harrison played six matches on the wing for the Saints between 1935 and 1936. These matches resulted in three wins and three losses. He was one of the players given the chance to replace Alf Ellaby on the wing, no mean task.

In 1921 John lived with his widowed mother, four brothers and a sister in Newton Road, Parr St. Helens. His father had very recently died.

John was a Colliery Maintenance Worker Below Ground in 1939 was living in Fleet Lane, Parr, St Helens and married to Florence (nee Eatock). We believe that John died in Wigan in January 1978 at the age of 65.

The SHS would like to thank the grand daughter of John, Joanne Harrison-Hurst for providing us with the splendid photograph of John.
