Biography of John Harrison



HERITAGE NO : 1004
One of the tallest Saints ever to don the famous red vee jersey, John Harrison was a very hardworking talented forward from April 1988 to February 1995. The signing from Parkside ARLFC literally stood out in many of these games in that period. John won a Lancashire Cup winners medal in 1991 when the Saints vanquished Rochdale Hornets by 24 points to 14.

John was very adept at the offload and on one notorious occasion he headed the ball from a play the ball for Alan Hunte to score a controversial try. This training ground Mike McLennan special was deemed illegal after that match.

John scored 11 singleton tries for the Saints and on more than one occasion, his exceptional reach secured the touchdown. It is true to say that John was very popular both in the dressing room and on the terraces.
