Biography of Harold Jaundrill

HERITAGE NO : 386
Harold Jaundrill by Alex Service

Mindful of the need for cover in certain positions, not least full-back, the Saints Committee signed Harold Jaundrill from St.Helens RUFC. He was 25 years of age when he joined his home-town club and had played for Cowley School at Rugby Union and soccer with the splendidly named St.Helens Thursday XI. Harold played two First Team matches during the 1929-30 season, as the Saints faced an increasing backlog of games before the end of the season. In both matches, at home to Batley and York, the Saints won easily, with Harold replacing the injured Charlie Crooks. Unfortunately, we do not have any further information as to his further career at Knowsley Road. He was struck off the Saints register in 1931. Outside rugby Harold was a Radio Sales Manager and lived in Windle Vale, St Helens in 1939. He died in his hometown in December 1990, aged 85. If you have any information, we would like to hear from you.
