Albert Johnson played his only game for his hometown club team in the league home defeat to Wigan by 6 points to 3. He played on the left wing outside centre Peter Twist in this match. The classy international winger was used to his guest status having turned out on 25 occasions for Wigan during the years of World War Two. Albert played 198 matches for Warrington scoring 112 tries and was their sole representative on the 1946 Great Britain Tour of Australia. In his only match for the Saints Johnson demonstrated his prowess by scoring the Saints solitary try in this match. He lived in Balfour Street, St Helens later in life and he died in the town in August 1998, aged 80.
