 HERITAGE NO : 295 William Kennedy by Alex Service William came from Hull and signed for the Saints on 5th November 1921. In fact, the St. Helens team played at the Boulevard the week before his signing. Described in the St. Helens Newspaper as: �a strapping fellow, aged 26, six feet and 13 stones,� he was a second rower by trade. William made his debut in the away match against Leigh on 12th November and played his last match for the club on 1st January, when Saints lost 4-11 at Featherstone Rovers. Ironically, the team had played against Rovers the previous week and had won 24-13. William played 17 times for the club and we have no information about his rugby career after leaving St. Helens. Indeed, we do know that he stayed in the town for in 1939 he was living in Manor Road and was a Master Window Cleaner. He died in St Helens in June 1974, aged 79.
