Jim Myers was a very skilful stand off and centre who played over 50 matches for the Saints either side of World War Two. He made his debut against local rivals St Helens Recs in a 10 points to two home victory in December 1937.

In all Jim scored 13 tries for the club including a brace against Liverpool Stanley in a 16 points to 8 victory on Christmas Day 1945. He also netted a double against Hull KR in April 1946. In that particular season Jim scored a very impressive 10 tries for the club, the third highest for the Saints that season. Jim was transferred to Swinton at the end of his Saints days.

The war severely interrupted his rugby career. In 1939 he was working as a General Labourer in a Brickworks and living in Hardy Street, St Helens. He was captured in Dunkirk in 1940 and spent five years as a prisoner of war in Stalag V111.He married his wife Irene in 1948 and they had one son John born 1949. Jim attended St Patricks and Sacred Heart schools. He died in St Helens in January 1996, aged 76.
