Biography of Harry Nicholson

HERITAGE NO : 545
Harry Nicholson is believed to have originated from Wigan and played Junior football with Newtown Legion ARLFC. He played five matches for the Saints during World War Two. He made his debut against Halifax in September 1942. Harry played on the wing or at stand off and scored three tries against Halifax, Keighley and Dewsbury. Despite this significant contribution the Saints lost all three matches in which Nicholson was involved. Harry also played four matches on the wing for Wigan in the same period scoring one try.

We believe he was the son of Robert and Mary Nicholson (nee Fletcher) who lived at 76 Billinge Road, Pemberton at the time of his birth. He worked as a Builder's Clerk in 1939. If anyone could supply an image of Harry or confirm any personal or playing details we would be most grateful.
