 This extremely tough prop forward was signed from Leigh and such were his leadership qualities that he was a appointed captain of the team. He scored just one try for the club in the Western Divisional Championship game against Whitehaven. That proved to be a lucky competition for Stan as he lifted the Trophy after a famous 10 points to 7 Saints victory over Swinton in the Final. In no time at all Stan was on the transfer merry go round again and found himself playing for Rochdale Hornets. Stan Owen a real character of our lovely sport.
