 HERITAGE NO : George sadly died on the 24th of November, 1918, just after the conclusion of the First World War at the tender age of 19. He is buried in St Helens Cemetery. He was positioned with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. George was the Telegraph Operator on HMS President IV. George made his debut at the age of 16 and played all his first team games for the club in the War Emergency League. He was a tough forward who scored three tries in 28 matches for the club in 1916 and 1917. In 1901, he was living with his grandparents in Moss Bank and the 1911 Census found him a resident of Lord Street, St Helens. |
