HERITAGE NO : 233
Bill Tellyn was a hard second row forward who played 36 matches for the Saints in the 1913 to 1914 season. The notable Welsh player was signed from the Cross Keys RU Club which proved to be a valuable source of talent for the Saints in this period. He was a great support player and in these matches he helped himself to five tries against Leigh, Runcorn, Hull, Warrington and Oldham. The Coal Miner was born in Merthyr Tydfil and we can see that he was living in Bright Street, Cross Keys in 1911. Incidentally, two other Welsh signings, Trevor West and George Barker, lived in the same street. That must have been an easy reconnaissance for the Saints Scout at the time.
