Nelson Tennant played his only official game for the first team in the away league defeat by Featherstone Rovers by 17 points to 13 on the 15th of November 1941. It was another case of Saints borrowing a player from the host club to achieve parity in numbers on the field. He played on the left wing in this match. Nelson was a scrum half who played 9 matches and scored one try for Featherstone Rovers in the 1940s. His brother Walter also played for Featherstone and was a Yorkshire County player. He died in Featherstone in August 2006, aged 83. Our thanks go out to Featherstone Rovers supporter and blogger, Mark Kirby, for identifying Nelson as the loanee player.
