 HERITAGE NO : 17 William Wilson was a regular in the team prior to the Northern Union being established in 1895. William was a tall winger. Another import from Westmorland he was one of the first t try his luck with the Saints. He played his only official Northern Union game for the first team in the narrow home league loss Stockport by 3 points to 0 on the 28th September 1895. He played on the left wing in this match. Wilson also played in two more friendlies against Halifax. The 1891 Census has him living in Serpentine Terrace, Kendal where he worked as a Grocer`s Assistant. If we have nailed the correct identity Will died in October 1921 leaving behind his wife Mary Alice and two children. |
