Biography of Dom Feaunati

Winger Dom Feaunati and his team-mate Maurie Fa'asavalu first came to the attention of Saints' Coach Ian Millward after some outstanding performances for Samoa in the 2003 Rugby Union World Cup. At over 6 feet and more than 16 stones, Dom seemed to adapt far quicker to the 13 a side code than his forward colleague Maurie and produced some powerful displays on the left wing during the early part of the 2004 Super League campaign for St.Helens. This big powerful winger looked a great prospect with the ball in his hand. His debut against Hull in the first match of the season saw Dom net a well taken try. He came off the bench during the 32-16 Challenge Cup final clash against Wigan at Cardiff, where he sustained a painful eye injury. Big and powerful, very much in the modern style for a winger, Dom could never really sustain his early success at Knowsley Road and eventually joined Leigh centurions in 2005. Born in Wellington, New Zealand, Dom has played for several Rugby Union clubs during his career, including Pontypridd, Wellington Hurricanes, London Irish and Worcester Warriors. Dom gained 7 caps for Samoa before turning to League and moved to French rugby where he joined Beziers and later on, Albi. For much of his post-Saints career, he has operated as a centre, which his power and pace allows him to do successfully.
