 HERITAGE NO : 1219 Travis Burns by SHS From Texas, Queensland, on the border with New South Wales, Travis began his professional rugby league career with Manly Sea Eagles in Sydney, in 2005. Essentially a half-back, who also operate at hooker and loose forward, he moved to North Queensland Cowboys from 2008-09 before returning to New South Wales and a two-year spell with Penrith Panthers. It was here that his team-mates included two other future Saints, scrum-half Luke Walsh and Mose Masoe, the barnstorming front-rower. The next stop for Travis was to England and two years with Hull KR, where he formed a fine combination in the halves with Michael Dobson. Travis also proved his worth as a goalkicker too. Saints came in with a £60,000 transfer fee in 2015 and a three year deal. He made his debut at stand-off half against the Catalans Dragons at Langtree Park in a 18-7 victory. On the bench that evening were Mose Masoe, Lance Hohaia, Greg Richards and Andre Savelio. Travis was tough and durable and a popular figure with the fans, with his forceful defence and will to win. His aggression was certainly one reason why he was brought to Langtree Park! Alas, things did not work out at St Helens and Travis initially went on loan to Leigh Centurions, before returning to Australia and a gig with the Wynnum Manly Seagulls in the Queensland Cup. His final game as a Saints was against Hull FC on 1st April 2016, when the Black and Whites pulled off a 16-17 success. Travis was on the bench. The halves were Luke Walsh and Theo Fages. | ||||
