MATCH REPORT

MATCH REPORT : An early penalty for the Saints was kicked downfield, but doesn't go out. The visitors got the ball back, and Foubister went over for the opening points a few phases later. The Wigan try was converted. The Saints strike back with Channy busting the Warriors by their own line off a smart short pass from Mottershead. Gaskin added the conversion. The Saints got their first six-again and we pushed Wigan back strongly. Sharp hands to the left edge sees Woosey fef a beauty of a pass to McGifford for a try in the corner. After 30 minutes the visitors got a break away, a couple offloads then worked it to Davies and the winger dived into the corner. Rowe missed the kick, level again at ten points apiece. More fantastic Saints ' play on that left edge, an offload from McColm sent it to Rachael Woosey and she powers over in the corner. Faye converted with a great goal. The visitors from the scrum scruffily play it, we play on and they march Saints downfield. With space and numbers, the visitors worked it to Georgia Wilson who scored in the right corner. Rowe's conversion missed leaving the Saints with a narrow advantage at 16 points to 14.

Ten minutes into the second half Grace Banks manages to finish a score for the visitors in the left corner. Rowe added the kick this time. 11 minutes later Mottershead made a great break in the middle, Hoyle took it further before getting stopped, we workd it out to the right and Phoebe Hook reached out to ground the ball. Gaskin failed to convert. The scores were locked at 20 points each. An unfortunate dropped catch by Beriwas punished and Molly Jones who scored in the left corner for the visitors. Rowe missed the kick. The score remained at 24 to 20 to the final siren despite commendable efforts by the Saints to claw the lead back. Thus ended the pulsating encounter.
