MATCH REPORT

MATCH REPORT : Saints started well but were unable to break down a stubborn Giants side. That was until the 11th minute, as Beth Stott went down the left edge and threw a cut-out pass to Amy Hardcastle who then raced away to score in the corner. Zoe Harris was unable to convert, 4-0. Harris was next to grab a four-pointer. She spotted space ahead and kicked the ball early, she just about beat the Giants fullback to the ball to kick it further on before grounding to finish another sensational solo try. She was able to convert her own try, 10-0. Saints’ third try came in the 34th minute. Rebecca Rotheram got the ball down the right and played a great pass to Carrie Roberts to put her through a gap to score. Harris was unable to convert, 14-0. That lead was added to with literally the next play of the game. From the kick off, Hardcastle received the ball, she made a great break through the heart of the Giants pack to race half the length of the field and score a great solo try. Harris converted to give us a 20-0 lead at the break.

The final try of a physical game came in the 44th minute. Saints had an overlap down the left and Rotheram was able to get away a good offload for her second assist of the afternoon, to allow Hardcastle to stroll in for her hat-trick! Harris was unable to convert, 24-0. The game was to end on a sour note though, as Danielle Bush left the field on a stretcher late on after suffering what appeared to be a serious leg injury. We wish her well in her recovery.
