MATCH REPORT


MATCH REPORT : Saints took an early, second minute lead at the Totally Wicked Stadium. Hanna Roberts receiving the ball and forcing her way over from close range. Amy Taylor missed the kick, 4-0 Saints led. Two minutes later, Saints had their second try. Saints had an overlap down their left edge and Rebecca Rotheram found Luci McColm to go over in the corner. Taylor was unable to convert, 8-0. The hosts’ third try came almost halfway though the first 40. Saints moved down the short-side and McColm threw a good offload out of a tackle to allow Eboni Partington to score in the corner. Taylor missed the kick, 12-0. Our fourth score came just before the break. A move downfield put Saints under the sticks and Tara Jones spotted a gap from dummy half to go over from close range. Taylor converted, 18-0. There was one final try in the first half. Debutant, Erin Stott found Shona Hoyle who powered over from close range. Taylor converted, as Saints led 24-0 at the break.

Five minutes into the second half, Saints had their sixth try. Katie Mottershead had a run from dummy half and found Hoyle who drove over for her second try of the afternoon against her former club. Taylor converted, 30-0. A few minutes later, Taylor found Emily Rudge who span over the try-line after colliding with the fullback, before grounding the ball. Taylor added the two, 36-0. The tries continued to fly in. Saints threw the ball right and Stott threw a great dummy which fooled her former team-mates, before scoring in the corner. Taylor converted, 42-0. Faye Gaskin then found Chantelle Crowl who breezed through a gap to score next to the sticks. Taylor added another two points, 48-0. Saints then threw the ball through the hands down our left edge and that allowed McColm to plant the ball down in the corner for her second try. Taylor converted from the left touchline, 54-0. Gaskin and Crowl then combined again, as the pair exchanged passes before the latter drove towards the line for her second try of the day. Taylor converted, 60-0. The twelfth and final Saints try of the afternoon came when Jones almost went the length of the pitch before being caught, The following play, Rudge went over to further increase our lead. Taylor converted, as Saints beat Huddersfield 66-0 at the Totally Wicked Stadium.
