MATCH NOTES : Saints total of 75 points was the 4th highest in the clubs history. It was also the most points St. Helens had ever scored in a Challenge Cup match. 75-0 was Wigans worst ever defeat. Saints score surpassed Wigans record 12-65 defeat of Saints on 26/5/1997 to record the highest ever score in a Saints v Wigan derby and also over took Saints 54-16 win at the JJB Stadium on 30/9/2000 which had been their highest score v Wigan and their 41-6 & 41-26 home wins on 27/12/1992 and 05/04/1996 which had been their highest ever home scores v Wigan. Mark Edmonson scored a hat trick of tries off the bench and thus became only the third ever Saints sub to cross for 3 tries in a match! |
